The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in South America in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a reception ahead of the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The royal pair were present at the scientific institution event, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a pre-COP30 gathering arranged together with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be held in Brazil before the climate conference.

Palace insiders have portrayed the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as assuming an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were introduced to participants featuring environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.

This involvement featured addresses together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.

The climate conference will dovetail with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the day before he participates in the COP summit on 6 November.

The monarch has been a key figure at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
