For any enthusiast of Austen's work, the names Lizzy, Jane, Catherine, and Lydia instantly conjure those iconic family members.
However, in a new story which follows on the tale, attention turns to the middle Mary Bennet who steps into the spotlight.
"I discovered her writing when I was a teenager from Croydon, believing Austen simply didn't have anything relevant to me," states a writer.
Upon exploring the author's novels, however, she was surprised by the degree to which connected she was with the literary figures. It was as though she "knew everybody" in those Regency-era narratives, she says.

Maddie Close, embodying Jane, notes that Mary's path of finding herself is deeply significant in the modern era.
"It is just so beautiful to see Mary grow and discover her own identity," she comments, noting that stories like this can be especially important for young people manoeuvring through the world and social media.
A fellow actress, portraying sister Lydia, concurs, noting that Austen's creations endure as people typically encounter them at formative moments of their life, like while reading Pride and Prejudice for exams.

The actress playing Mary points out that Austen's witty prose delivers incisive observations on society and avoids shoving a moral "down your throat".
Molly Wright's take, offered by playing Kitty Bennet, is that Austen was "incredibly forward-thinking" regarding her perspectives on topics like "love and independence".
The actress notes how a contemporary social media phenomenon directly reflects a central dynamic in Pride and Prejudice: the notion '{if he wanted to, he would'.
"Everyone were participating in that concept, and Austen understood that two hundred and fifty years ago," she states.

According to Quintrell, although a long time have passed, "the emotional journeys portrayed truly feel like they remain fresh in the slightest."
That, in her view, is a key explanation why creatives continue to revisit this universe.
