The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
