Unveiling an Bizarre Steam Demo: Controlling a Poop on a Quest to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered plenty of entertaining independent titles. Yet, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure includes a hero that is actually a dung attempting to travel to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: just use a one button to leap. Across numerous challenges, encounter boss fights and access a market to acquire skins for your poop character.

Time your movements precisely, since one mistake means beginning again. Leap off air pockets to hurl the poop higher, traverse crumbling surfaces, and activate triggers to open hidden paths. Collect coins and use them on challenging game content where things ramps up.

Graphically, the experience shows off vibrant level designs and a killer background music. The retro art featuring moving geometric shapes may remind players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to name previous releases where you are a piece of feces, gaming have long included toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. Naturally, fecal references is present a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, such as winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is ready at present on Steam, with the final release set to debut on PC on November 19.
